Owners
We are the owners of Nature’s Wonder and am proud to say that dreams really do come true.
I have been working in the Early Childhood industry for over 20-years. I am a qualified and registered teacher with a Diploma of teaching ECE. Colin was a dairy farmer and when the opportunity arose to begin this journey we jumped at the chance and have not look back.
Being able to create this wonderful environment for the families of Eltham and surrounding districts is a real pleasure and joy.
We have two wonderful teenage sons.

Hanna Cameron
U2 Head Teacher, Qualified Registered Teacher
Kia ora koutou,
My name is Hanna and I was born and bred in the beautiful Hawkes Bay. On completion of my GradDip (ECE) through Victoria University, I moved down to Wellington to begin my teaching career. I have been teaching infants and toddlers for the past three and a half years and I have now made the move to South Taranaki to teach at Nature’s Wonder! I am passionate about providing the best care and education for our youngest Tamariki. I strongly believe that the relationship is all and underpins everything we do in early childhood. I strive to work with my colleagues in providing a respectful, peaceful, nature-filled curriculum to allow the Tamariki to learn and grow at their own pace. In my spare time I love to play competitive netball and spend time outdoors with my partner, and our springer spaniel puppy called Ted. I am really looking forward to getting to know you all in your beautifully established whānau/community here in Eltham.
Ngā mihi and see you soon.

Madison Caird
U2 Teacher, Qualified Registered Teacher
Kia Ora,
My name is Madison (Madi) I am a qualified early childhood teacher and have been teaching since 2020, following my lifelong dream of working with children. Born and raised in Whanganui on a lifestyle block, I was fortunate to grow up surrounded by nature, freedom, and fulfilling experiences that have shaped both who I am and my teaching philosophy.
I later moved to Taranaki to begin a new chapter and build a life with my partner. This step has allowed me to bring my passion for early childhood education into a new community, where I continue to nurture tamariki in a meaningful way.
My teaching philosophy is centred around building strong, reciprocal relationships with children and their whānau. I believe these connections are the heart of early learning, providing the foundation for emotional safety, trust, and growth. I’m especially passionate about creating a calm, slow-paced, homely, and nature-based environment, where children feel a strong sense of belonging and are encouraged to lead their own learning.
I see each child as capable, curious, and full of potential. My role is to support them as they make sense of the world around them, stepping in when needed, but always respecting their independence, resilience building and unique ways of being.
I look forward to meeting your child/ children and the families here in Eltham and am excited to support you all through the first years of your child’s life.

Petra Hornblow

Kia ora!
My name is Petra, and I’m a qualified Early Childhood Teacher, I have been teaching since 2020. I currently work in the Under Twos room, where I feel incredibly privileged to support our youngest tamariki during such a special stage of their development.
I believe in creating an environment that nurtures love, laughter, and learning—where every child feels safe, valued, and empowered to explore the world around them. My approach is grounded in building strong, respectful relationships and providing a warm, welcoming space where children and their whānau feel at home.
Originally from Taranaki and raised in Pukekohe, I’ve recently returned to Taranaki to be closer to whānau and reconnect with the place I first called home. I’m excited to continue my teaching journey here and to be part of a community that celebrates and supports our tamariki to thrive.

Kylie Hartland
O2 Head Teacher, Qualified Registered Teacher
Twenty years ago, if you had asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, it would have been exactly this. A qualified early childhood teacher, working with a passion for educating and empowering children. Oh, how the eight year old in me grins each morning when I arrive at work.
As you can tell, I have always had a passion for working with children and that passion has only grown as I completed my study. I am a fully qualified teacher whose personal philosophy centres around “respecting children as capable and competent human beings who are encouraged and empowered to be secure and confidant in themselves, achieving this through the use of meaningful relationships”.
I was born in Auckland and spent the first ten years of my life in Waiuku. After that, my parents moved us to Stratford for a more peaceful lifestyle and I have lived here ever since (well almost). In 2014 I up and left my home town and headed to London on an O.E. While there, I travelled to some amazing places (the Arctic Circle, Greece, Croatia and Turkey being some of my favs), and nannied for two of the greatest children ever! At the beginning of 2017 I finally returned. I guess you could say, I caught the travelling bug!
I am the second eldest of five children (my youngest sister being only eight) and enjoy spending time with my siblings. I value this time even more so after being away for so long. I love watching the rugby and tennis. I also enjoy reading, music and movies as well as walks up the mountain. Post London, theatre has also become a new passion of mine.

Kimberley Powell
O2 Teacher, Qualified Registered Teacher
Kia Ora! My name is Kimberley Powell and I have been living in Eltham since 2017.
I live with my amazing partner and our 5 kids and I am so privileged to be guiding and learning with your amazing Tamariki on their learning journey. I have a bachelor’s degree in Social Work as well as my Graduate Diploma in Early Childhood education that I will have in December 2022.
As an early childhood education educator, I believe that Tamariki learn the most through play. I believe in observing and building meaningful relationships with Tamariki and their whānau to understand what is truly important to them as whole. I believe in seeing children in a holistic way. They are more than just themselves, they are made up of everyone in their lives past, present, future and the community they live in. I believe that every child no matter what has the right to an education and to be heard. A child’s voice is important and I believe in advocating for all children and their rights. Every child deserves to be heard, respected and have the knowledge that they are worthy. I believe in working as a team with the whānau, Tamariki, and my other Kaiako, as well as outside resources/agencies to give every child the best possible education and life. I believe that the child comes first in education!

Marita-Pat Smith
O2 Teacher, Qualified Registered Teacher
Kia ora,
My name is Marita-Pat Smith, but everyone calls me Patty, and I have the privilege to be joining the team here at Natures Wonder. I have been teaching for 10 years in New Plymouth and am excited to fulfill my new role as a permanent teacher at Natures Wonder.
My family and I have relocated here about 6 months ago with the excitement of purchasing our first home here in Eltham. My partner and I have a 21 year old daughter and a one-year-old granddaughter who also have moved to Eltham with us.
I have a Bachelor’s in Teaching and Learning and thoroughly love supporting children to become confident and competent learners. My teaching philosophy focuses on respectful practices and building strong relationships with Tamariki and their whanau. I love to have a laugh and share experiences with children, their families and Kaiako. You will often see me laughing and smiling alongside Tamariki, engaging in messy play and supporting Tamariki with their interests and social competencies.
